The more we get to know a character, the less inclined we are to pass judgment on that person. With fiction, we get this rare opportunity to sort of slow time down for one thing and play at the skill of omniscience. I think when we fully know somebody, it's not that we don't have opinions about them, but the opinions are kind of full of this information. And so from my point of view, this makes us wiser, you know, maybe a little slower to act, which is probably a good thing.
