Speculative Particle Physics

If what we're learning about the universe is real in a sense that it's not just biased by our human conception, then we can imagine maybe they have discovered the same things. I worry that some of the more speculative attempts to unify fundamental particle physics and large-scale cosmology are butting up against these kinds of limits. Could we have reason to believe that we inhabit a world correctly depicted by this model? There's a tricky question there at the limit. Can we think our way out of our own box?
