Is the State a Socialist?
I would never argue that Jesus was preaching 21st century socialism, dialectical materialism or anything like that. But when it comes to sharing and redistribution, I think it's too meager to say only if it's individual charity. When we have situations where people who are incredibly breathtakingly wealthy are paying very little tax, yes, there's something wrong in that. We've achieved, people say, oh, we've lost Christianity, we're a post-Christian. That someone, forget me, the guy in the bed next to me that night was living in subsidized housing, on his own, probably had nothing. He was getting a triple bypass surgery with no bill at the end.
