The Man Who Infused Kindergarten Was a Crystal Scientist
In 1837, when he was 55 years old, Frobel founded the very first kindergarten in Badlockenberg, Germany. His intention was to create an educational system for children who could not yet read or write. He thought to use geometric forms as a way to teach complex and simple lessons all through play. The word kindergarten cleverly encompassed two different ideas: Kids would play in and learn from nature, but they would also themselves be nurtured and nourished like plants in a garden.
