Is There a Commitment to Political Discourse in America?
i've found that in other places where there hasn't been a culture war, usually what that means is that secularization is happening unchecked and with the complicity of the church. In america, people think about it as a kind of hostile ground, or they think about itas a kind of contentious public space. But we have a kind of belief in the discourse, even if we find ourselves at logger heads. We think that arguing actually matters to some degree or extent. So maybe it's better to fight about something, even if you might lose,. i suppose, just letting getne steam rolled.
