Is the Russian Empire a Language of Civility?
Turkish was the language of liturgy for large numbers of Orthodox Christians across the Ottoman Empire. It coexisted in parallel with other languages like Arabic, Bulgarian and Albanian. The idea that Greek has a language of just the language of Greeks is not necessarily the case. And so, when we look at the policies after 1912, you know, language is a really important one, right?
