CHAPTER

You Need Anger, You Just Kneed the Right Apportion

Aristotle's theory of flourishing is that if you follow his theory, you won't ever be an assol. Some philosophers are very unforgiving about those feelings you're describing - like anger or jealousy and impatience. But aristotle allows for those feelings because he says sometimes we need them. He doesn't want to drill out of you the idea that emotion is meaningful. It prevents you from doing something rash and stupid. You just have to use them at the right time in the right amount for the right reasons. The highest form of being human is the pert: a person who uses their brain all the time.
