Is There a Colony Level Recognition in Bees?
Bees are very good at guarding their nest entrances against intruders from other colonies, even of the same species. So there sa colony level recognition in bees that is based on scent,. But to my knowledge, no evidence, nor indeed, the likelihood, of individual recognition by by recognizing individuals by their color marks or their visual appearance - basically. And part of the reason why iam saying this is that there is very little variation between individuals.
