Empathy Is Inherently Uncomfortable
"A world with no empathy would be like driving at night and nobody's cars have headlights or tail lights," she says. "If you do proceed without empathy, if you proceed with something else, that's when you find out what your character is really all about." Empathy puts agency back in the hands of the person who needs it rather than getting kudos gold star stickers for forcing an opinion on someone who doesn't need to hear it, writes Chelsea Handler.
