Senator Chris Murphy: How Do We Solve the Violence Inside Us
Just the Right Book with Roxanne Coady
The Second Amendment and Global Violence in the Two Thousand Twenties
In the two thousand twenties, there was a real reluctance to have a national army. And so the militias were actually a shared role, right between the people and the government to protect the country. In this book is also the story of global violence. You'll find about ten or 15 pages which sort of explained the broader trajectory of violence. What you find is that violence declines in this country starting at the moment when governments started to become powerful enough to protect people. It used to be that you had to protect yourself. But when governments become significant enough that they can actually have police and they can have armies, violence rates between private citizens starts to come down.
