The Russian Propaganda
CNN's John Sutter talks about Russian President Vladimir Putin and the language he uses to define his country. He says that if you're a native Russian speaker, you are Russians according to Putin. The argument is similar to how German speakers were considered "true Germans" because they weren't tainted by romance languages or Latinized like other dialects. But it also has shades of this that are much more harmless in terms of history than Spanish can sometimes be.
