Glycogen is stored in our muscle tissue that our liver as glycogen. For every one gram of glycogen, we also store it with 2.5 to 2.7 mil of water. We tend to see people's weight jump up even if calories are equated and they're having the same amount of protein. Even though the energy density is very similar, you still see your weight move on the scale. And that terrifies a lot of people, particularly when they're not educated about how carbohydrates are stored.
