The Story of Sylvia Benajevsky
Gertrude Benajevsky was found guilty of murdering her 16-year-old daughter Sylvia Lykins in 1966. She beat the girl's corpse with a book and left it for detectives to find out how she died. Gertrude signed a statement admitting having repeatedly beaten Sylvia about the backside with her belt. The official cause of Sylvia's death was listed as a brain bleed, resulting from severe blows to her right temple,. which obviously implicated Gertrudes as her murderer.
