The Relationship Between Consciousness and Self Awareness

Renee Descartes, the great philosopher of consciousness, Thor and Thor rabbits were just an all animals were just mechanisms actually that don't have any feelings and experiences. I'm not sure a rabbit or a mouse is self or were in the sense that they can reflectively attend to their own feelings  and experiences. That is something a much more sophisticated form of consciousness that certainly most human beings enjoy certain other animals.
