The History of the Spartan Brewery

Around 1800, the Spartan brewery was first one to install a non-smoke kiln in Germany. By 1850, roughly half of the breweries had already switched to the new technology. Around 1900, only four breweries were left that did traditional smoke beer. The term Rauchpia, which is the German for smoke beer, Rauch means smoke and Gaterol Ciech or Rauch - very hard to pronounce with English language background.
