The Filter Bicarbonate

In the proximal tubules, we're going to be secreting hydrogen into the tubular lumen. We emphasize it every time we secrete a hydrogen ion, it's like reabsorbing a bicarbonate. Secreting that hydrogen leaves that equimolar amount of OH or hydroxyl ion that combines with CO2 to form that bicarbonates.
