Cavalry Combat
Mounted troops generally served two functions. Scouting the turaine and keeping tabs on any nearby enemy forces, while also screening their own army. The second function of the cavalry was on the battlefield itself. They were sometimes useful for their speed to fill a hole in the line or counter an unexpected enemy movement. Cavalry combat was almost more art than science. For mounted troops, confidence aggression and fearlessness often meant the difference between life and death.
