China's Long History in Africa

I think China has a long history in Africa. As we know, 33 years running now, first visit the foreign minister makes is to Africa. Zambia was one of the co-sponsors of the UN resolution granting the security council space and China's space at the UN. So it would seem to mean that what is missing is if you were China and you feel like you've been contained, then you kick back. Not so much because you hope to hurt your friends, but because you feel you've been cornered. I think China is basically defending itself from what it believes are intrusions from the West in trying to contain its growth. Western multilateral development banks are instruments of that
