Boas, I Don't Think He Was Funny.

He didn't get his first full-time job until he was in his late 30s or 40s. He worked as a docent at Clark University and stayed there until 1892 when most of the faculty left because of dissatisfaction with the president, the trustees and the college. The University of Chicago just basically absconded with the faculty at Clark University. And Boas was regarded as somewhat of a troublesome character. I think it was a matter of anti-Semitism.
