facebook has done a really bad job of trying to be paranoid inside their corp product and innovate around that stuff. It's served them incredibly well, but where they run aground is where they see these threats and they can't or they don't buy them. This is an example of how overdoing it on your competition and becoming overly obsessed with it can hurt you.
