Is This Legislation Meant to Help Publishers?
The journalism competition and preservation act was pulled out of the National Defense Authorization Act. The bill would have allowed publishers to collectively bargain with Google, Facebook and Twitter about what kind of money they're going to get for their content. This is as one guy called it price regulation by any other name. But the other thing that this legislation would do would be essentially force outlets to carry news and not be able to moderate their own sites.
