The reason ridges were originally added to coins was to prevent people from taking out a pocket knife and shaving the edges off. So we have ways to get around the deficiencies of shaving. Why is it that way? Well, it would seem so that whatever this little code or detail is here can be imprinted on the ridge on the edge of the coin. But i'm afraid this coin is not intrinsically worth 25 dollars to me because it looks like im it hasn't been minted to its full volumetric atomic weight.
