Sam started his career at San Quentin in the Adjustment Center. After a few years, he switched over to Defro. Defro is a totally separate part of the facility. Guys in there rarely leave their cells. And when they do, it's usually just to this small kind of separate yard that's just for them. There's really no contact with the general prison population.
