The Nine Characteristics of a Christian

Paul is saying that the byproduct of someone who has yielded to the Holy Spirit gets manifests through these nine characteristics. The gift of the Christian is that you get God, not an opportunity to be nicer or more joyful. It's impossible to be walking in the Spirit and have love at the center of what you do without being kind and gentle. Walking in the Spirit requires we keep in step with the Spirit.
