The Evolution of Acoustic Communication

There's a long history in Western science of privileging sight over hearing. And it also was very difficult technically to record the sounds of other species because they were either very faint and intermittent or there were beyond our hearing range. What is particularly exciting about the past decade is, you know, Moore's law applies to these devices as to many other things. It's like a little Cambrian explosion of discovery of acoustic communication and lots of other species.
