The Electoral Road to Socialism in the United States

It is exceedingly unlikely that the United States could attain socialism without at least temporarily infringing some liberal democratic norms. These infringements would include curtailing some of the political rights of capitalists and their allies. The fact that socialists have achieved a majority democratically in the familiar liberal democratic sense hardly implies that opposition to socialist proposals will be mild or insignificant.
