The Cost of Catching a Defect in the Design Phase
If you catch the bug in the design phase, it's easy to fix because people know exactly where it is and they don't have to do anything to fix it. Unfortunately, most bugs don't get caught in unit testing, but you can. The easier it is to understand what the root causes and fix it, the lower the cost of the bug will be.
