What Is the Bandonio?
The bandonio was invented in the 18 hundreds by hinder bent, and it was s used to play church organ music. It's got a little, uh, so it's like an accordium, but it has a different metal for the reed plates,. So it has a, i kind of darker sound than an accordion does. The left hand plays kind of the base nose, ah, and the right hand plays more the trouble and go really high.
Tango is more than just dance, and more than just music - it's a whole artistic genre. For some people, it's a way of life. One such person is Alex Krebs, a Portland-based tango instructor, Bandoneon player, and bandleader who has dedicated the past couple decades to spreading a love of tango around the world.
On this episode, Alex and pianist Andrew Oliver take Kirk (and all of you) on a journey into the wide, enchanting world of tango.
