The Indications for Bipap

If the patient looks like they're really struggling to breathe, if they have a bit of hypercapnic and sephalopathy and their kind of somnolent, those would be my indications for initiating bipap. We want to increase the floo rate as high as possible to try to eliminate dead space and reduce the work of breathing. High flow is just not supported by the same me of evidence that bipap is. But i think hypho can certainly be useful for some patients if the patient really can't tolerate bipapo for whatever reason.
