Women could probably get away with being more direct with men than they currently are generally, but that the women might be more alarmed by men being even more direct. I mean, that's another sex difference, right? Partly, partly linked to agreeableness. Men are on better behavior when the women are around. So if you, they are changing the behavior in the direction you desire, it's just that they haven't changed as much as you like.
