By 1945 Bletchley Park had expanded a lot and probably aren't that many oxbridge professors left who are twiddling their thumbs wondering what to do for the war effort. The experience proved that you don't really need to think about the world in that pre-war way. Some people who you would never have imagined had the right kind of background but they were actually doing a cracking good job so it's definitely right that by mid-war you've got a whole range of different kinds of people joining.
