The Importance of Diversity in Islam

Islamic society is diverse and pluralistic, rather than monolithic as the Western view would have you believe. Even when a society is organized to in a theocentric way, there was always a diversity and plurality that was part of the very nature of that polity. So it's not free, liberty, a gallery for where the liberty in that is not really there. It's liberty within very narrow, defined parameters,. so legal fictions, right, as as halak would say, legal fiction.
