In 1992, four LA police officers were acquitted in connection with the vicious beating and arrest of Rodney King. A year later, on April 29, 1992, a mostly white jury consisting of 12 residents from the distant suburbs of Ventura County acquitted the four officers. The Rodney King beating came following years of racial and economic inequality in the city. So this was on everyone's mind when a verdict was reached in the O.J. Simpson case. If he was found guilty, what would happen in L.A.? Would there be another riot?
