I was just reading a book by walter shidell called the great leveller, yeree exeit. He makes fairly strong case that the only redistributive techniques that work are a pestilence and war,. And that's because they knock everyone down to zero. But i think social spending has been pushed along by by all three. It hasn't ne in some countries, it probably has reduced the jinny coefficient in western european countries.
