The Importance of Scale and Scope in Global History

The piece moves between talking a little bit about how I came to the project that I had just completed. It was really cathartic to sit down and think about those things in writing. The region is, as you know, huge and diverse. There's just no way to tell a coherent narrative about Latin America as a place. And it just naturally lends itself to reflection on the different frameworks that historians use to tell about the past.
