The Difference Between Aquinas and Dante's Commedia
Foster interprets Aquinas' thought on the natural desire for the beatific vision along the lines of Henri de Lubeck's thesis in Le Mistir de Sonetral, 1965. This interpretation leads Foster and others to see Dante's own thesis as clearly opposed to Aquinas. If this distinction is not Parchae Gillson, the key innovation of Aquinas' Thought, that claim that Dante does not prioritize or emphasize this doctrine does not indicate that there is a clear difference between Aquinas and Dante in this negative respect either.
