XYZ - What's Going on in the Classroom?

Stanley Fish uses this anecdote a few different times right. By looking at this fragment completely removed from any kind of context and then interpreting it you end up getting the kind of vibe from the community about what they think this thing means. You get this kind of consensus reading or you can get to a consensus reading of something that is so wholly divorced from whatever its original context is. In undergrad I was in like multiple classes where this happened and sometimes it totally works and like you get an interpretive community and sometimes it is such a dud that it goes nowhere.
