The Relationship Between the Id Ego and the Super Ego

The super ego is formed within childhood in relationship with repressive forces, patriarchal authoritative forces that shape who we are. And it is the site that we come to actually develop our sense of self and our identity which we choose to project into the world. The point of psychoanalysis is to really harness this harmony so that it's working fluidly to maximize what can be permitted while identifying those forces in the world that are restrictive.
