The Desperation of ACT UP
The TAG split left ACT UP in shambles and the organization never fully recovered. During the Clinton years, AIDS activism declined tremendously. There was a turn toward more symbolic actions like the ashes action. The videos of the funerals show a group that is much closer to despair than anger.
