The two remaining tribes of Israel were taken into captivity by Nebuchadnezzar and 586. The Assyrians obliterated those northern 10 tribes, intermarried with them and enslaved them. Some people say they can still somehow trace something back to these tribes. But I'm historically very skeptical of that.
