Can C11 Make Canada a Cultural Backwater?
You said in the Senate that you worry that this kind of protectionism could backfire and turn Canada into a cultural backwater. How could that happen? Well, I mean, the worry there is as we've discussed, if you have sort of a sheltered workshop for Canadian production and it gets promoted to Canadians and the algorithm reads that in a prejudicial way. It's entirely possible that people could design algorithms that don't create this backlash. But C11 is a very complicated, multifaceted piece of legislation.
