The Importance of Open Databases for Climate Change Research
In the past I'd worked as a reviewer for some of Stripe's climate investments. There was a lot of estimation of sequestration benefits kind of based on back of the envelope calculations, but they lacked information about potential biological interactions and so on. So it's kind of a lack of holistic and systems thinking that you realistically can't capture in house with a lot of these projects or startups. And so I think that's where of course like key collaborations come in and why I think having an open database like this is important.
