Twitter added a label to NPR's account designating the broadcaster US state affiliated media other news media Twitter accounts with the label include RT of Russia which is states, Mozart media and Genoa of China. The blue check signified you are that person but what it came to be was a status symbol for journalists who worked at trash outlets like the Daily Beast and Huff Poe and Buzzfeed. Elon Musk is taking away the blue checks unless you pay for it. It could pay I think it's eight or ten maybe twelve dollars a month but they're just not willing to do it.
