The History of the Internet of Things

Omni Magazine first coined the word cyber war and defined it in terms of giant robots and autonomous weapons. In 1994, Amazon began work on an e-commerce service called merchant.com to help third party merchants like Target and Marks & Spencer build online shopping sites on top of Amazon's e-commerce engine. The Chinese government trained a group of North Korean hackers and gave them the idea that they could use the internet to steal secrets from their enemies. Dr. Fred Cohen published the first papers in 1991 and 1992 that used defense and depth to describe a common cybersecurity model - still used by many today.
