Is Base Editing Really Important?
How many potential diseases do we think we can target with base editing and create kind of potential cures for? That's a really hard question to answer like quantitatively because there's so many parameters that go into that answer, right? And then also you have to consider, okay, let's say on paper we can modify this gene with a base editor. Well, if you can't deliver it, then you can't fix it in practicality. So I think the safest thing to say is that over the course of time, my hope and expectation is that that number that we will be able to reasonably reach towards achieve will only increase over time.
