The Cox and Lox Pathways to Prevent DCIs

Aspirin and other NSAIDs work on the Cox pathway, which converts arachidonic acid to a number of different proteins that are known to be inflammatory mediators. If we can shift that balance between harmful mediators and enhance these more anti-inflammatory or vasodilatory metabolites, that can offer an opportunity to prevent vasospasm, prevent vascular inflammation and hopefully prevent DCI.
