The Declaration of Independence
In 1858, Lincoln says we have to wash our garments in the blood of the revolution. He's referring to the Declaration of Independence as a theory of universal freedom. In 1861, he said all political sentiments originate from what was given to the world in 1776. That will become the text that he preaches from him at Gettysburg Address.
