Is She in Sin?

I felt every time there was like a choice made in the story it always seemed destructive. I kind of got a little bit of Faulkner's religious elements in there as well as that she was the one in sin because you know she has a common law marriage. She doesn't fit up to the standards that everybody else is set in society. Every character has evil in this story I think.
