The Importance of Vitamin D in Breastfeeding
If someone is formula fed or receiving more than half their nutrition from a formula, my understanding is that you do not need to do any type of iron supplementation. If they're feeding formula, if they're being breastfed, they do need vitamin D. The recommendation is that that start by hospital discharge. And it's 400 international units per day that they get. So it's kind of standard dosing across the board. But yes, that's the major thing that we're concerned about in young children.
