The rates of these infectious diseases drop precipitously over the first three decades, four decades or five decades of the 20th century. Back in the early 1900s, late 1800s, if you looked at the major cities that the most of the populations lived in, they were like petri dishes. We didn't have chlorination. A lot of people lived in like tenement houses or these constructed buildings. It was just a mess with germs and people's diets were not very healthy.
